Safari Itinerary

Your day-by-day adventure through Tanzania's spectacular wilderness

Day 1: Arrival In Dar Es Salaam

Upon landing at Julius Nyerere International Airport, your Kito Safaris guide will greet you and escort you to your hotel. Take the evening to relax and prepare for your adventure ahead.

Day 2: Flight To Kigoma

Today, you’ll board a flight west to Kigoma. Upon arrival, enjoy a relaxing afternoon with optional activities such as a city tour or a boat ride on Lake Tanganyika.

Day 3–4: Gombe Stream National Park

Take a boat across Lake Tanganyika to the legendary Gombe Stream National Park. Trek through the forest with your guide to find wild chimpanzees — a breathtaking encounter. Explore the dense jungle, home to over 100 chimpanzees, and walk the paths once roamed by Jane Goodall.

Day 5: Transfer To Mahale Mountains National Park

Travel from Kigoma to Mahale by road and boat. The journey is an adventure in itself, offering picturesque views along the shores of Lake Tanganyika.

Day 6: Mahale Mountains Chimpanzee Trekking

With no roads in this park, you’ll explore on foot. Hike through the forest to track wild chimpanzees — one of the most immersive wildlife experiences in Tanzania.

Day 7: Return To Kigoma

After your final breakfast in the Mahale wilderness, journey back to Kigoma via boat and road — a scenic and reflective return.

Day 8: Flight To Dar Es Salaam & Departur
