Safari Itinerary
Your day-by-day adventure through Tanzania's spectacular wilderness
Day 1: Arusha – Tarangire National Park
You will be picked up from your Arusha Accommodation after breakfast and drive to Tarangire for a full day game drive. One of Africa’s little-known gems, it should be on the itinerary of all lovers of wilderness & solitude.
The landscape is incredibly diverse with a mix that is not found anywhere else on the northern safari circuit; it is dotted with ancient baobab trees & large termite mounds & the Tarangire River is the only source of water during the dry season when the harsh sun suck the moisture from the landscape, baking the earth a dusty red while during the wet season you will experience dense bush & luscious high grasses.
Famous for its large elephant population, it is also home to zebra, wildebeest, giraffe, waterbuck, baboons, & impala. Predators include lion, cheetah & leopard. The swamps are shared by flocks of birds; green wood hoopoes, lovebirds, tallish herons, white bellied go-away birds & giant kingfishers. On drier ground you will find the kori bustard & the heaviest of the flying birds; the ostrich.

Day 2: Tarangire – Serengeti National Park
After an early breakfast, depart towards the most famous National park in the World, the Serengeti. The driving itself, although long, is spectacular. This will be an unforgettable moment for anyone seeing it for the first time. As you progress well into the Serengeti, you will see why the name means, in local language, “endless plains”. The park has 6,900 sq. mile (18,000 sq. km) and for most of it, the plains will stretch to the horizon defying your senses and perception of distances. It is the home of the Great Migration and to 2 million wildebeests, hundreds of thousands of zebras and all kinds of antelopes. As for Big Cats and large predators, it’s the place of choice to look out for lions, cheetahs, leopards, hyenas, with many television scenes like the famous river crossings having been filmed in this park
Day 3: Full Day Serengeti National Park
Full day in the Serengeti National Park. We are completely flexible with your preferences and this day will be organized according to your wishes. On every day of the safari, your guide will discuss with you the best timings for you, including the game drives and the wake up time. For example, on this day, you could do a morning game drive, return to the camp for lunch and relaxation and finish with an afternoon game drive, or you could do a full day game drive with picnic lunch.
Day 4: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area
On this day we suggest a very early wake up in order to do an early morning game drive (when the animals are more active) and see one of the best sunrises you’ll ever witness. After the game drive, we return to the camp for a rewarding brunch and then we’ll proceed to Ngorongoro, the 8th wonder of the Natural World. The crater spreads for 102 sq. miles and has 2.000 ft high walls, making it virtually a Noah’s ark and inhabiting almost every species of wildlife that is indigenous to East Africa. It’s one of the very rare locations in the whole continent where you can witness the black Rhino. The crater has a river, several swamps, a soda lake with a great concentration of flamingos, a forest and open plains. It’s also famous for its elephants which, are the largest in the world and have huge tusks. Ngorongoro Crater is truly a Wonder of the Natural World.
You will reach Ngorongoro in time for a sundowner.
Day 5: Ngorongoro Crater
Explore the Ngorongoro Crater with an astonishing Full Day Game Drive with picnic lunch at the famous hippo pool. A home to one of the densest mammal populations in the world, the Ngorongoro Crater is one of the best places to see the Big Five (African lion, African elephant, Cape buffalo, African leopard, and Rhinoceros). Other animals like gazelle, wildebeests, zebras, cheetahs, golden jackals, and topi are also found here in large numbers. For a relatively compact area of 260 square kilometers, it has an astonishing number of over 500 bird species.
The safaris here are amazing because you can see animals in every direction of your vehicle. Spotting the big five in one single day is highly likely.
Day 6: Lake Eyasi Activities
You will wake up early in the morning for a chance to go hunting with the Hadzabe. Return back to your accommodation for late breakfast and proceed with Cultural Tour and practices.
You will be introduced to the extraordinary people who belong to an indigenous tribe known as the ‘Hadzabe’ (hunter-gatherer bushmen). The tribe inhabits the shores of Lake Eyasi as do the Nilotic-speaking Datoga tribe.
Early morning we depart to the village for local hunting experience with Hadzabe and Datonga tribes. This is not a mere performance. The bushmen rely on these techniques to survive and you’ll need to be very attentive and at times quiet, while they demonstrate their use of locally made poisons in incapacitating the poor creatures on which they depend for survival.
You will visit these tribes, which will include a visit to their homesteads, learn about their way of life, animal tracking, medicinal plants, and much more. Some wildlife and a wide range of bird species can be viewed during walks around the lake, which can be arranged.
Day 7: Lake Manyara National Park – Zanzibar
Pickup from your hotel at 8am and start a beautiful journey across the Great Rift Valley for a full day game drive. Although small in dimension (205 sq. miles), the park has breathtaking scenery and well famous for its lush acacia forest, giant figs and mahogany trees, as well as to a growing population of baboons and blue monkeys. Permanent residents of this park also include giraffes, elephants, impalas and a huge amount of buffaloes.
The lake is also home to a large number of hippos. The landscapes of Lake Manyara are something that can not be described with words, and the game drives along the lake provide stunning photo opportunities of giraffes and buffaloes in the foreground and the lake in the background.
