About Lake Eyasi
Lake Eyasi is a salt lake located in the northern part of Tanzania, near the town of Karatu and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. It's situated at the southwestern corner of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, a protected area and a World Heritage Site. The lake is relatively shallow and covers an area of about 1,050 square kilometers (400 square miles) during the wet season, but it significantly shrinks during the dry season.
One of the notable aspects of Lake Eyasi is its role as a habitat for diverse wildlife, including various bird species and small mammals. It's also known for being the homeland of the Hadza people, one of Tanzania's last remaining hunter-gatherer tribes. The Hadza have lived in the region for thousands of years, maintaining a traditional lifestyle centered around hunting and gathering.
